Our Colorado contracts have a Property Insurance Objection Deadline  to remind you to look into the coverage and cost of homeowner's insurance as soon as you put a contract on your new home and makes your purchase contingent upon acquiring insurance.

All lenders require a policy be in force prior to funding the loan. This deadline allows you time to make sure you have enough coverage, should anything happen.

Ask your insurance agent a lot of "what if" questions.

Higher deductibles lower the number of claims, and reduce your insurance costs.

Lower deductibles may give more peace of mind.

Beware that  "replacement costs" that may not cover everything you need covered.

Check with your insurance agent for more information on these issues, and any others. If you don't have an insurance agent, I have access to several top-notch agents I can refer you to with confidence.

A great online resource can be found right here.
